What is The Casting Collective?

The Casting Collective is a private background artist database used by Casting Directors when searching for performers to work on film and television productions shooting in British Columbia and Alberta, Canada. Please note that the BCF Casting performer database has been retired. You can create a new profile for yourself here if you'd like to be considered for work as a background artist.

Anyone can work as a background artist! Productions are always looking for people of all ages from every walk of life. The first step is to create your performer profile with The Casting Collective. No fees or commissions will ever be required. Please note that applicants must have a valid Canadian Social Insurance Number and reside in either the Province of British Columbia or Alberta, Canada. 

The Casting Collective includes timesaving digital tools created specifically for production's Assistant Directors and Accounting departments to assist with managing background artist requirements. Residency Documents are uploaded to each performer's profile and can be available to productions as required. Payroll processing can be expedited with SmartVoucher, a secure payment technology that eliminates paper processes and dramatically reduces overtime costs. Assistant Directors can sign-in and wrap background artists more efficiently and in a fraction of the time.

The Casting Collective is powered by the EP Casting Portal technology which is utilized by major studios, networks and streamers on film and television productions shooting throughout the United States, the United Kingdom and Ireland. The EP Casting Portal maintains military-grade security to protect the personal data of background artists. The Casting Collective is currently the exclusive client of the EP Casting Portal in Western Canada.
